Brand new literary fiction novel: “The Idiot” by Elif Batuman. I have one copy for giveaway. Penguin Press is providing the book.
“The year is 1995, and email is new. Selin, the daughter of Turkish Immigrants, arrives for her freshman year at Harvard. She signs up for classes in subjects she’s never heard of, befriends her charismatic Serbian classmate, Svetlana, and, almost by accident, begins corresponding with Ivan, an older mathematics student from Hungary. Selin may have barely spoken to Ivan, but with each email them exchange, the act of writing seems to take on new and increasingly mysterious meanings.”
My actual review will run next week. Please leave a comment below telling me why you’d like to read this novel. Only U.S. addresses, please, and no P.O boxes. I will choose one winner on Monday, April 11. Good luck.
This book sounds entertaining, intriguing and unique. I would enjoy it greatly.
Sounds like a book I would enjoy. Thanks.
I believe that reading fictional works by authors from other countries enlightens my understanding of that culture.
I heard this book reviewed on The New York Times Book Review and am looking forward to reading it. It sounds like a good book group book.
