Eastman Was Here

I have one copy of EASTMAN WAS HERE by Alex Gilvarry for my giveaway. Please leave a comment below in order to enter my contest. I had a gentleman tell me he enjoys my posts but, is hoping for more male authors. Here’s your chance! Only U.S. addresses please. No P.O. boxes.

“New York, 1973. Alan Eastman-washed -up writer, public intellectual, husband, father, and philanderer-has hit rock bottom. Once a revered man of letters, he now finds himself alone on the floor of his study, reeling from the sudden departure of his wife and bemoaning his faded glory. But when he receives an unexpected phone call from an old rival, he discovers the solution to all of his problems: he will fly to Saigon to write the definitive account of the Vietnam War and, on the winds of this triumphant comeback, regain the love of his wife and reestablish himself as the preeminent author of his time. Alana Eastman is ready for his second act. “

This novel is dark and humorous. It’s also soul-searching and perfect for those of us who are perplexed about the madness that has taken over our world today. So many are searching for meaning in the face of this new era.

The idea for this novel came from a biography of Norman Mailer.  The New York Herald wanted to send Mailer to Vietnam in order to write dispatches on the ground war. That did not happen but, it is the seed planted in Gilvarry’s
