Just started reading LILAC GIRLS by Martha Hall Kelly. Love the cover! Will it live up to it? I’ll keep you posted. So far, so good.:)
MILLER’S VALLEY by Anna Quindlen is just what I’m looking for this summer. I can’t wait to start it.
Okay, I’m just going to go ahead and say it. I read half this one and put it aside. I had one person tell me they absolutely loved it. However, I think I am not in the right place to appreciate this one right now. I just found the main character drawl and the story did not move along smoothly enough. I am distracted right now and that may have had something to do with my experience. I would appreciate any feedback on this one from you guys.
All three of these books are available right now. Go forth and read!
The problem is you aren’t Canadian. I bet you didn’t like “15 Dogs” by Andre Alexis either.(not a war story). I think this British WW1 and WW2 literature rings closer to us for some reason.Maybe its the high school history. Lets all of us join in wishing Elaine a speedy recovery. Please visit her for me and for all her devoted friends in Toronto.
I just read “Miller’s Valley” by Anna Quindlen and it was wonderful. Bonus is that I was in San Francisco this weekend visiting my daughter and we went to hear her being interviewed by her friend, author Kelly Corrigan. They have such great rapport. It was a magical hour.
Bonnie, that’s amazing. It is my next read. I am so looking forward to it.
