The Forgotten Room by Karen White, Beatriz Williams, and Lauren Willig

WW11

The Forgotten Room

Three best-selling authors have teamed up to write THE FORGOTTEN ROOM. Karen White, Beatriz Williams, and Lauren Willig are experts on historical fiction. All have written numerous novels and are well-known.

The story begins in 1944 in New York City. Kate is one of a very few women Doctors at a private hospital on Manhattan’s Upper East Side.  One day as she is staggeringly tired from working back to back shifts, she is confronted with a badly wounded patient, just in from the war fields of France. This is WW11. Captain Cooper Ravenel is about to change Kate’s world.  You see, he has on his person a miniature portrait of a woman who looks just like Kate.

This private home now turned into a hospital  was the Pratt mansion during the Gilded Age. Then went on to become a lady’s boardinghouse.  Three women are bound together through one house, one room, one family. Mystery abounds. Secrets are everywhere.

In the 1890’s Olive Van Alan was a maid in this mansion. She went from riches to rags when her father who designed the house was never paid his due. She is out to get revenge. I do love a good story of revenge.

In the 1920’s Lucy Young came from Brooklyn to Manhattan during the Jazz Age looking for the father she never met.

Three generations of women are featured in this new novel that takes place over fifty years in history.

My beautiful finished book came from NAL publishers, a division of Penguinrandom house in exchange for an honest review.
