Three Titles To Look Forward To Soon

The Island

The Island

THE ISLAND, by Elin Hilderbrand ,comes out in early July. I always look forward to her novels. They’re all set in or around Nantucket. Summer is officially in full bloom when Elin’s books arrive in bookstores. This one will not disappoint. It takes place mainly on a small, exclusive island just off the coast of Nantucket. The cast of characters are just what we’ve come to expect from Hilderbrand. They are witty, smart, and this time they are multi -generational.  This may even be her best yet.

A VINTAGE AFFAIR, by Isabel Wolff, will also be available in July. I had not read Wolff and was delighted with this unique novel set mostly in England. What a pleasure to discover a new author who writes from a fresh perspective.  I had planned to read quickly through this story, but soon found I wanted to slow down and enjoy each word. Lovely prose and such a lovable main character. This one is to be savored and not devoured.

While you’re reading RED HOOK ROAD, you will want to keep that box of tissues nearby. Yes, it is sad, but it is worth the sadness. I began this one with a highlighter in hand, underlining and marking much of the lovely script. I flagged pages. It takes place in Maine in the summertime. It takes place over four years. But, the first couple of chapters will blow you away. Just keep reading. We all know people like this, or are people like this. Ayelet Waldman brings these characters so to life. I had almost forgotten her gift of character development.  I loved her earlier book, LOVE AND OTHER IMPOSSIBLE PURSUITS. Just loved it. This new one is coming out in July, just in time to stash in your tote bag for the beach.
